I had very little free time this week so I was delighted to see one of my favourite directors’ work appear on SBS, I knew I could sit back, relax and enjoy another re-watch.

20th Century women is part of an (unintentional?) trilogy on the relationships between parents and their children, it’s fertile ground for sure, how well do we actually know our parents, how well do we know our children, I mean, really?

This beautifully shot flick with an exceptional cast is a film that reminds me of many stages my own life has passed through and maybe, where I am heading.

I also love how Mills plays with mixing media in a number of his films, most recently evident in c’mon c’mon where a documentary is weaved expertly into the narrative.
