Free to Air 4th December
Uncle Boonmee Who Can Recall His Past Lives is an experience. In parts, a meditation on our mortality, part cinema, part installation. It's impossible to know if you'll dig it until you dive in.
Shot on 16mm, the camera finds the right frame for the moment and invites you to be a part of what unfolds. For me, when the camera is static it puts the onus you the viewer to be an active participant. I love this.
Apichatpong Weerasethakul is currently exhibiting in Sydney at the MCA > https://www.mca.com.au/exhibitions/a-conversation-with-the-sun-afterimage/
Uncle Boonmee is free to air on Kanopy (as is Memoria, his most recent motion picture)
